Saint Catherine’s Monastery is said to be the place of the Burning Bush which is located at the center of the structure. The Monastery is located at the base of Mt. Moses. Saint Catherine’s Monastery was used as a fortress and features walls of 8 meters by 35 meters tall. This Monastery is hailed to be the oldest Christian monastery having been commissioned by Emperor Justinian somewhere between 527 and 565 AD. Visitors are able to tour Saint Catherine’s Monastery with its small gardens and cypresses and of course its Christian relics.
