San Salvador is the largest city on El Salvador and a growing area for tourism. It is situated in a seismic area of Central America, namely around the base of the San Salvador Volcano which makes an interesting excursion. In the centre of town there is the National Theatre and the Metropolitan Cathedral to visit, although many historic buildings bear the scar of previous earthquakes. Museums include the Military Museum, and the David Gutzman National Museum of Anthropology.
For a panoramic view of the city visit Los Planes de Renderos, a must see destination 1000 metres above sea level. The views from this mountain across San Salvador are magnificent. Shoppers will love the Llopanga markets in the East of the city for arts and crafts, and the many shopping malls in the city. Why not buy a hammock at the Mercado Cuartel. For nightlife, the Zona Rosa near the main hotels has a vibrant scene. Book your Zona Rosa hotel through EasyToBook.com’s discount hotel listings.
