The Eastern Gulf of Finland National Park, or as it is known in the local Finnish language, Itaisen Suomenlahden Kansallispuisto, can be found in Southern Finland, covering about 6.7 square kilometers, or 2.6 square miles, of land. The park consists entirely of small islands and islets, where you’ll find lush forestation, mostly in the form of tall pine trees, though many of these islands are completely treeless, with nothing but rock and steep shorelines. This sheerness is a result of rapakivi granite’s natural tendency to split into sharp, cubical shapes.

The national park is most well known for the many aquatic birds which make this their home. Probably the most common amongst these birds are the Goosander and Tufted duck, though you will also find Razorbills and Black Guillemot on these protected islands. The park can be accessed by boats, and tours are sometimes given, however, some of the islands are restricted, so as to preserve the sanctity of natural mating and nesting areas.
