The Finnish name for Helvetinjarvi National Park is Helvetinjarven Kansallispuisto, which literally translates into the English language as “Hell’s Lake”. Of course, this is just a name, as the scenery and experience provided the hundreds of nature lovers who visit the park every year are nothing short of heavenly. From the lush green foliage to the imposing deep gorges, the rugged scenery on display here is breathtaking. The park serves as a pretty good representative for the wild forestation in the Tavastia region, showcasing all the marks typical of the forests in the area. The major attractions of Helvetinjarvi would be the hiking trails and the scenery itself. The park offers an excellent respite from the sometimes overwhelming nature of city life.
The park is managed by the Metsahallitus, or the Administration of Forests. A state owned Finnish organization, the Metsahallitus manage more than 120,000 square kilometers of national parks and lakes, employing more than two thousand people.
