Western Finland is the location of the small community of Sastamala. This tiny and charming community is 200 kilometers from Helsinki and is primarily a suburban living area. Be certain to visit Mr. Clutterbuck’s House if you’re traveling with children. The exhibition here is based on the books of illustrator Mauri Kunnas. There are plenty of things here for the kids to see and do. There are also lots of opportunities for outdoor sports here, including great golfing and kayaking during the summer and fantastic skiing in the winter.

You’ll also want to visit Kiran talonpoikaismuseossa, a working farm from the 1800’s that is now also a museum. When you’re tired at the end of the day, you’ll certainly appreciate the hotels in Sastamala that offer saunas – a Finnish tradition in skin care and relaxation. Sastamala is home to many great restaurants, so you’ll also be able to get your fill of traditional Finnish cooking.
