Cannes is widely known as the venue for the world’s premier film festival. Located in the French Riviera, this town of about 70,000 inhabitants has gained international reputation as famous actors and actresses come to the Palais des Festivals every May to attend the Cannes Film Festival. However, even on an ordinary weekend, Cannes draws many visitors to its beautiful beaches, historical attractions and museums. Most visitors to Cannes will make a trip to the 17th century Gothic church of Eglise Notre-Dame-de-l'Espérance and the 12th century Romanesque chapel of Chapelle Sainte-Anne. As for museums, the Musée de la Mer and the Musée-Château de La Castre in Suquet are definitely worth a visit.
