The major activities in Cannes are not only limited to those concerning the film festival that happens in the town annually, drawing not only the stars but crowds and crowds of stargazers. There are also other international festivals, tourism activities and conferences that happen in the place that also draw in the crowd and many of these are held in the Palais des Festivals et des Congres.

Constructed in 1982, this huge structure is considered to be one of the most happening events venues in town. It marks the beginning of the old port and the end of the beaches on La Croisette and has a 24,000 square metres of exhibition space, while its auditorium could accommodate 2,300 people. The futuristic palace that is sand in colour is the venue of almost all of the activities in Cannes that have got to do with tourism. Always the centre of activity, the Palais is always hosting events no matter what time of the year and these events include the International Television Program Market, the International Music Trade Show and the very popular Cannes Film Festival.
