There are so many attractions in Cannes that you can discover apart from the stars that converge here in time for its world-renowned film festival. Even if not all of the world knows it, Cannes is actually a place that is more than the glitz and glamour it is known for. One of the attractions that the place has to offer is the Musee de la Mer.
Because the museum is situated on the Port-Royal of the Sainte-Marguerite island, which is some 1 kilometre away from Cannes, you can easily get here by boat. Although there are people who might think this as a bit inconvenient, they usually change their mind when they get to see the splendid treasures within the museum and know of the magnificent history behind the place where it is located. The Musee de la Mer is a unique museum that is dedicated mainly to the treasures derived from the sea. You will find remnants of cargos from ships that date way back to the times of the Romans. You can also see other buildings in this fortress and one of these is the prison, which held such prisoners as the legendary Man in the Iron Mask.
