One of the many splendid attractions in Grasse, the Villa Musee Jean-Honore Fragonard is an elegant country house from the seventeenth century. It is the home to artist Jean-Honore Fragonard's paintings. If you visit the villa and museum, you will see that the splendid garden that surrounds it is more than worth of the effort that you extended in getting there.

Fragonard was a celebrated painter who was born in Grasse. He stayed in the villa, that is now known as one of the attractions in Grasse, while visiting the town between the years 1790 and 1791. The painter is known for his portraits and romantic paintings that evokes graceful figures and are characterized by fluid lines. Among the paintings of Fragonard's that are in display in the villar are the reproductions of The Progress of Love, which are four decorative panels depicting eroticism. These paintings were commissioned by the Comtesse du Barry, Louis XV's mistress. By the stairwell of the villa hangs a splendid trompe-l'il that was painted by Fragonard's son Alexandre-Evariste, who was later on known as a talented painter of the neoclassical style.
