Piney is yet another historical town situated in the Aube province of Champagne-Ardenne. It lies on the ancient road built by the Romans from Troyes to Lesmont. The town centre was badly damaged by a fire in 1921 yet it has some interesting places to see such as the Place de la Halle with its fountain and houses that go all the way up the street to the War Memorial. Castle Brantigny, Eglise Saint Martin de Piney, the Manor House of the Duke of Luxembourg, Chapel Brantigny, Church of Villevoque and the Church of Villiers le Brule are also worth a visit. For places to stay you can book yourself a respectable discount hotel at, or a cheap hotel if you need to save money.The nearby Foret d’Orient, the natural reserve park and the Lac du Temple that is laid out in 2000 hectares of land are some other places of interest. A market is held on the third Tuesday of each month whereas an agricultural trade fair takes place every third Sunday of the month. There is also a communal festival that takes place every year on the Sunday before Palm Sunday. Activities involve hunting, fishing, cycling and hiking.
