Aix-en-Provence is a big city located in the southwest part of France. The city boasts of excellent museums, beautiful churches and many old buildings from the 16th to 17th centuries. The Cathédrale Saint Saveur is considered one of the major landmarks in Aix-en-Provence, along with L'Archêché, the Archbishop’s residence. The cathedral was founded in the 5th century, and it displays a splendid combination of Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architecture. If you are interested in the arts, Aix-en-Provence has many excellent museums, including Musée Granet, Musée Arbaud and Pavillon Vendôm, where you will find paintings, furniture and clay figurines which date back to the 17th century. The Musée d'Histoire Naturelle and the Entremont Oppidum Celto-Ligure are museums of natural history where you can find exhibits from the prehistoric and the Iron Age eras.
