There is only one place in the world where you will be able to see the most famous tapestry in the whole world and that is in the town of Bayeux in France. An embroidery on linen, which is 69 metres in length and .5 metre in width, the tapestry depicts 58 scenes in 8 different colours. Made by unknown embroiders from 1066 to 1077, the embroidery is definitely one of the must-see attractions in Bayeux.

The tapestry was first mentioned in the year 1476 when it decorated the Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Bayeux's nave and now it is in the Musee de la Tapisserie de Bayeux. Encased in Plexiglas, the embroidery narrates the tale of England's conquest by William the Conqueror. Such scenes as the coronation of the Harold as England's Saxon King, his return from Normandy as well as other scenes that eventually ended with his death. The decorative borders of the tapestry include scenes from Aesop's Fables. This embroidery has made the museum one of the top attractions in Bayeux that visitors should not fail to visit.
