Aurillac Hotels and Accommodation

Aurillac is a traditional French town that is sometimes called the ‘umbrella town’, because it is responsible for 50% of all the umbrellas manufactured in the country. With great natural beauty all around, this town of 30,000 inhabitants has much to offer tourists who go there for the weekend. Aurillac is the place where two great mountains are located, the Plomb du Cantal and Puy Mary. These mountains are great destinations for outdoor activities such as hiking and mountain biking. There are also impressive historical sights in Aurillac, including the magnificent 14th century abbey of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, the Château d'Anjony and the Château Saint-Etienne, a museum with volcano-related exhibits. If you are interested in museums, the Musée de Cire and the Musée d'Art et d'Archeologie are certainly worth a visit.
