Pierrelatte is contained within the Drôme department of Southern France. It has a population of slightly under 12,000, and provides an array of very old tourist attractions; some dating back as early as the 12th century. There are several unique ancient and cultural monuments.
Le Rocher is widely known as the central highlight of the city, often hosting concerts, symphonies and other local events. Pierrelatte also hosts the Le Musée Municipal Yvon Gueret, a museum which houses an array of archaeology and paleontology exhibits. From here, tourists often wish to also explore the La Chapelle des Pénitents, which is an ancient monument built in the 12th Century. Programs for events being staged at relevant locations can be obtained from the Tourist Office of Pierrelatte.
