The old town of Colmar is very pretty and typically Alsation, while the newer area is a more modern version of a French city. Colmar has a rich history which provides a wealth of wonderful attractions to see while visiting. The Musée d'Unterlinden is housed in an old Dominican convent and features the Issenheim altarpiece from the 16th century, which is both magnificently painted and sculpted. The town’s Dominican Church also has a lovely altarpiece, worth stopping in to see. In the heart of old town you will find the Koïfhus and La Petite Venise, both with wonderful examples of medieval architecture. There are a variety of more museums and churches to take in during your visit so plan on staying enough days to see it all.
