Facing the magnificent mountaintop of Mont-Blanc, Combloux is part of France’s Rhône-Alpes region. If you are not visiting to ski, or need other activities to occupy your time after time on the slopes, take a stroll through this picturesque little town. Stop in at the Church of St. Nicholas, which is a lovely place of worship. There is a footpath which leaves the town to tour the granite quarries and rock formations in the area. Nearby, you can visit the more modern church of the Plateau d'Assy, which has mosaics by Léger, tapestries by Lurçat, as well as ceramics by Matisse and Chagall. There is a museum of local heritage in Megève, as well as one in Chamonix which features displays of Alpine Fauna.
