Le Grand Bornand is one of France’s finest ski areas. Most of the ski resorts and hotels in Le Grand Bornand stay open throughout the summer, as summer visitors enjoy hiking and mountain biking in the area. In fact, Le Grand Bornand has been one of the start towns for a stage of the Tour de France three times. It is considered one of the best ski resorts for families, as there are plenty of slopes suitable for children and beginners. There are several restaurants, but very little nightlife.

When you’re not hitting the slopes or taking a hike, you’ll want to visit the Church of the Virgin Mary of the Assumption, which dates back to 1346. You’ll also want to see the militiamen cemetery and the Bouchet Chapel. In the evening, enjoy some of the fine French cuisine and wine of the region. If you have time for a day outing, you’re quite close to the Swiss border.
