Capital of the department of Ille-et-Vilaine, east of the region of Brittany is the city of Rennes. It’s one of the highly populated cities of France and is noted as one of the artistic and historic cities at that. Medieval houses are nicely preserved at the Champ-Jacquet in the city’s center. The most famous structure in the city is the 17th century Parlement de Bretagne which houses the parliament of Brittany. If you love the night life, then La rue Saint-Michel is for you. It is more commonly known as Rue de la soif which means "road of thirst" in English. It’s where bars are scattered all over the street. For religious buildings, the Notre-Dame en Saint-Mélaine Church is a beautiful cathedral with 14th century arcades of Gothic architecture as well as a 17th century façade among many other features.
