France is not only known for having a wealth of architectural wonders, it is also famous for its magnificent gardens and parks. One of these is the Parc du Thabor, which is a formal French garden, rose garden, orangerie and aviary, all rolled into one great package. This park offers some of the best sights of Rennes that many people from around the world flock to see.
One of the most beautiful gardens and parks in France, the Parc du Thabor can be found on ten acres of land right in the heart of the town. First opened to the public in the 18th century, the park was refurbished between the years 1860 and 1867 by Denis Buhler, a renowned landscape architect. It was Buhler who was responsible for the famous Thabor outline of different gardens, which is one of the best sights that Rennes can offer. Later on, the greenhouses and the famed bandstand in the park were added on by municipal architect Jean-Baptiste Martenot.
