Take a two-hour drive southwest of Paris and you will find a town that is very rich in cultural heritage. Amboise is a town filled with châteaus, and it is home to the famous Château d'Amboise, which was the favorite château of Charles VII. In fact, Charles VII stayed in this splendid château most of his life. Another well-known château is the Château de Chaumont, which was owned by great feudal lords in the past. Other châteaus that can be found in Amboise are Château de Cheverny, Château de Blois and Château de Moncontour. If you have enough chateaus for the weekend, Amboise has other historical attractions to offer, such as the Clos-Luce, the house where Leonardo da Vinci spent his last days, and the Chapelle St-Hubert, the place where he was buried.
