The name Autrans may be familiar to Olympics followers, as this small town in the Isere department of France was the sight of several events in the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble. Autrans’ location, nestled amongst the mountains in the Rhone-Alps region, makes it an ideal spot for winter sports, and it held some of the ski jumping events as well as the biathlon and cross country skiing competitions.
In fact, many visitors to Autrans will come for the skiing, and will fall down upon the bed in their EasyToBook.com discount hotel after an exhilarating, albeit exhausting, day of alpine or cross country skiing. In January each year, Autrans is the host of the Foulee Blanche, a cross country skiing festival and amateur competition. When visitors need a break from winter sports, they can take a walk to the Autrans Church. Be sure to ask for directions to the remains of the Roman church nearby as well.
