Castelmoron-sur-Lot is thought to be named after the Moors who founded the village. Situated on the banks of the River Lot this small village has a large port called Lalande. The town centres around the Castelmoron Bastide Du Lot which is an impressive thirteenth century chateau and historic monument, whilst the Church of St Hilaire with its three naves, and the Place Calas with impressive facades all add to the charm of this lovely French village. A market selling local produce is held on Wednesdays. In summer the village hosts jazz and other art festivals.Along the River Lot canoes can be rented and fishing awaits .Boat trips along the river are a popular way of seeing the area and in Castelmoron it is even possible to rent a hydroplane. There are two golf courses local to Castelmoron-sur-Lot and plenty of good walks in the countryside. Castelmoron-sur-Lot is an area renowned for prunes and plums, as is nearby Agen.
