Montsoreau is a lovely little village in the Loire Valley, near Saumer vineyards. It is in the province of Maine et Loire, between Anjou and Touraine. The village is on a quiet stretch of the River Loire, near the confluence of the Loire and Vienne Rivers and is built at the base of a cliff. A short stroll along the river is the Château de la Dame de Montsoreau, which rises up out of the water and is renowned as the only one of the Loire Castles which has its feet in the water. This area is easy to get to transport wise, whether by air, rail or road. EasyToBook.com is just a click away from sorting out your budget hotel deal for you.
Montsoreau is classed as one of the most beautiful villages, alongside its neighbour Candes St Martin, in the whole of France. Nearby, you can visit the old troglodyte village which has its houses built into the cliff. These residences were used as village dwellings as recently as the 18th century but for the most part are now only used as a tourist attraction, although some of the villagers use the dwellings to grow vegetables; particularly mushrooms. Whilst in the province of Maine et Loire you should try and visit some of the vineyards. You will find that the hotels are generally small but extremely comfortable in this area.
