Reims is the largest city in the region of Champagne-Ardenne. Founded during the Roman Empire, the city of Reims is where the country’s kings are crowned. That’s why you’ll never get bored once you’re here because there are so many sites to see. For one, the Cathedral of Reims is where the kings are crowned. If you’ve seen the movie Joan of Arc, then you have an idea. It’s where the Sainte Ampoule or oil is kept. It was used for anointing of the kings and was believed to have been brought by the Holy Spirit. The Notre-Dame de Reims is a lovely cathedral that has a magnificent and ornamented façade. The Porte de Mars or Mars Gate is the oldest structure in the city while the enchanting Saint Rémi Basilica features architecture from different centuries of 11th to 15th with the exception of the 14th century.
