With an estimated population of 174,000, Lillie is the biggest city of Flanders, a region in northern France. Located on the Deule river, bordering Belgium, Lille has 19th century buildings but it also has some from medieval times. There are so many attractions in this unique town that when you tour the area, you’ll find you’ll have a very busy weekend. Lillie is famous for being the birthplace of Charles de Gaulle. In fact, there are scheduled tours of the Musée Charles de Gaulle. You can visit the second largest arch in France, the Lille Citadel.
