Avenir Hotel Montmartre Paris    

This hotel is clean, the staff is nice and helpful. We had wifi. There is literally a subway stop right across the street that can get you anywhere in Paris in minutes. It is easy to get to and from the airport. I really can't say enough great things about this hotel!

Clean and tidy, service was fine but didn't really deal with staff much, location quite good. Room small , especially the bathroom,hardly room to move. Sleep good, as no traffic noise and mattress very comfortable. However could do with redecorating

The bedroom was dingy, dirty (hairs left in the sink, the carpet hadn't been vacuumed properly) and the toilet seat was broken. The towels supplied looked like they had been dragged out of a pet's basket and I had grave reservations about using them. OK, the price was cheap, but I did expect a certain standard of cleanliness for my money.

When I travel in Europe, I don't expect to stay in an American style hotel so a hotel like the Avenir Hotel Montmartre completely meets my expectations.The location is really very convenient. The Avenir Metro station is right across the street and it's easy to use the Metro to get everywhere in Paris. It may not be the nicest neighborhood in Paris, but we found a nice restaurant right around the corner, took an easy walk up the hill to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and around the Montmartre neighborhood. A little further down the same street you'll go by some sex shops but I never felt unsafe in the area.The staff was very friendly and helpful, although at certain times of the day the only person there is the one working the reception desk so you may need to wait for help. This was the first time that I've stayed in a hotel where they've asked me to leave my room key when I went out but they were always quick to take it and give it back when we returned, even if in the process of helping someone else. Additionally, I believe all of the reception staff speak English as well as being very supportive of my limited French. They helped us book an airport shuttle when we left (I had a lot of large luggage) - although for many, taking Metro to the station and then a train to the airport should be easy and less expensive.We paid for breakfast at the hotel which I think is a relatively good deal given the price of coffee and tea at restaurants. For 6 Euro each, you'll receive as much coffee or tea or hot chocolate as you would like, orange juice, yogurt, a croissant and bread. We chose to eat in the common room (right at reception, nothing fancy) but they also offer in room service.The hotel is doing some refurbishing right now and we saw signs of ongoing work but it never disturbed us while we were there. I asked for a room with two beds as I was traveling with my father and we received a nice corner room that was like a small suite. There was a main room with a double bed, desk and armoire, then a smaller room with a single bed and desk that you walked through to get to a small bathroom. It was a good layout for us with plenty of space and could easily work for 3 people. The bed was a little softer than I prefer but overall comfortable.

The hotel Avenir was very pleasant, clean, small room and good facilities.We got a room on 5th floor with beautiful view of the Sacre Coeur dome. We asked for a room with balcony when we arrived and it was available. the staff was friendly and helpful in 95% of occasions and breakfast offered for 6 euros is not expensive compared to prices in cafés and bistros in the neighbourhood. the metro is right outside the door of the hotel. This hotel was surprisingly nice for the very low price and the Montmartre hill just across the street with a lot of charming atmosphere. It is also within walking distance from Gare du Nord, the train station.

We stayed for 4 days in Paris at Avenir. The location is great, next to the metro en close to the Sacre Coeur. The friendliness of the staff were mixed: very nice and helpful to apathetic. The room and shower were very small and outdated. The ceiling of the room was high and thus the room felt luckily not claustrophobic. The bed slept well.

Stayed for two nights on weekend trip to Paris with eldest son. This hotel is dated unwelcoming and in parts dangerous. The tiled shower, which had minimal water coming through it is nearly 2 feet above ground level with no handles or other means of support when stepping out of it onto wet floors. We left unscathed but an accident waiting to happen which would never be allowed under British health and safety. Hotel clad in scaffolding so only view out of the window was same and and accompanying workmen. Carpets threadbare with dirty washing in the corridors. No air-con and very warm at night. Couldn't open window due to noise from passing traffic. Swimming pool type hairdryer in the bathroom which worked intermittently but you had to switch light switch on and off in order to do so. Had to pay 10E deposit for TV remote which also worked intermittently and can't understand why anybody would consider stealing it. Wash handbasin plug stuck in so couldn't empty dirty water etc etc etc.Good points - convenient for Montmartre, right next to Anvers metro (although Anvers not most convenient stop on system) and cheap. Beds were actually quite comfortable too. Went there on account of reviews - low cost was a bonus - but will be paying much more in future to keep as far away from Hotel Avenir as possible. Definitely unsuitable bathroom arrangements for elderly or anyone with any mobility problems. You need to be a gazelle to get in and out of that shower safely!!

My daughter and I had Room #9. the wideth of the room about 9 feet wide, and possible 12 feet long. the bath room was part of the size. I found the shower very high off the floor, no grab bars to help with getting out of the shower. you needed to squeese past the sink, first to get to the shower and than squeese past again to get yourself a towel and dry. My daughter stated, the bathroom was so small " you could not change your mind while in it".the beds comfortable, however there was no room on the floor for our lugguage, and it was necessary to stack the luggage up infront of the door, than hoof it onto the bed to look for anything. small handmade shelves and little area to hang clothes. Floor dirty with stains, and one sheet used for the botton sheet of the bed torn. however we were warm with plenty of blankets. The front desk woke us at 11pm to ask about breakfast which was in french..something to do with what we would drink. We thought this not very appropriate.location to montmartre was great and souvenir shops. front desks staff helpful, spoke english or enough to help with questions.perhaps it was just room #9 that was lousy. there was also work going on at the front of the building, so location was hard to find, as the scaffolding hid the name, and only a little 8x10 sign on the door gave us the name of the place. the other thing annoying was each time we left the hotel, we needed to return the key to the front desk, and retrive it when we arrived back again.I surpose there was a reason for this, but it was annoying. Breakfast was a bun, baggett, orange juice, plain yogart and jams, coffee tea, not much when compared to what we had in germany of buns, cheese, meat, jams, eggs. would we stay again...hard to say. it did the trick, helped us keep our cost down for a week in paris. it provided memories for sure. I would recommend this hotel if you are being budget conscience, but diffenently make sure you do not have room #9.

It's a great location hotel in montmartre area with friendly and helpful staffs. Close to Anveers Metro and it only takes 10 minutes to Basilica du Sacre Coeur.

Good sized room for 4 people but no in room facilities eg kettle and had to pay deposit for tv remote. Dated decor and bathroom in poor condition although clean. Good base for one night stopover and great view of Sacre Coeur from window.

Unfortunately there was building work going on during our stay so there was scaffolding outside our window and it was loud at times - the rooms are not sound-proof as advertised. But overall it is a good place for the price - it is in a good location and the room was clean.

The beds and the bathroom was clean, though the floor seemed like it wasn't vacumed in a long time, well I don't sleep on the floor so it didn't really bothered me. On the day when we arrived it was hard to find the hotel because they are renovating and you couldn't easy find the entrance. I would recomend this hotel to my friend and family because the location was really good and the price was good.

We stayed 11 days. The stay was pleasant enough. Hotel was easily accessed thru a nearby Metro, so when we were tired out after a day's excursion, the hotel when we emerged from the Metro was a welcome sight. Food was easily available, and there were at least 4 supermarts in the vicinity.There was no kettle though and I was told to get hot water from the desk if and when I needed it. Thank God I had 2 travelling thermos, and after the 3rd day I was given a kettle as it was too troublesome for them to boil water every time I need it, which was 3 times a day. You need to bring your own mugs. They give only disposable plastic cups.There is a room safe, but you have to pay 1 euro for every day. The TV remote costs 3 Euro a day, but the lady did mentioned that all channels are in French, so it was no big deal.The WiFi is free but you need to log in thru the Hotel website everytime you start up. I was using an Android pad and the staff had no idea how to access the Hotel site with Android. I was using Opera and it won't log in at all. In the end I used my Pad's Browser, though sometimes it won't access at all. The modem is on the ceiling of the first floor and my room is almost directly above it, I will lose the signal in the bathroom. BTW the floor/ceiling is wood so penetration shouldn't have been a problem.Otherwise, our stay was pleasant, and the staff do speak English and are helpful enough. There is a shuttle service to the Airports(18euros to Orly)I will stay there again if I travel to Paris. Hope this is helpful to all, especially to Malaysians.
