La Madeleine Church in Paris was constructed in the early 1800s at the commissioning of Napoleon in honor of St. Mary Magdalene. The neo-classical style structure boasts a total of 52 Corinthian columns that stand 20 meters high. The church itself has three domes and a single nave, which are decorated in Renaissance-style art. A statue of St. Mary Magdalene sculpted by Charles Marochetti is housed inside the structure above the high altar. The organ inside was crafted by Aristide Cavaille-Coll, who was a celebrated instrument maker during the 1800s. The organ is said to be one of the city’s best.
