Grand Hotel Magenta Paris  

First problem, when you arrive, you pay and then you can enter the room, which is quite decrepit and obsolet. Dirt wall, the curtain should have been white long time ago, but now they are grey. And only one plug, I mean we are in 2013, not in 1913.

I think I could have found something better for that price. The room was Ok. The toilet too small and the wifi system didn't work properly. However, it was well situated, near Gare du Nord (3 minutes walking).

We booked this hotel because it was good value, the beds are comfortable to sleep in, the location perfect, the decor could be improved, carpets in the rooms very old and used, table tops old and some broken. I would rather spend some more money and skip the poor presentation.

This hotel is small, but it is suitable for backpack traveller because the location is near station so we can have train, metro or bus to any destination in or out town easily. It's room is relatively clean.

Worst hotel I ever have been. Never ever I would go there again. Terrible stuff. I choose it cos of this location near Gare du Nord. Cos toilett was outside of room i need to pay additional money to get one inside room.

The best was the location and we did not like bath room. The employ were very helpful and kind allways. Some renovation in rooms could increase value of Hotel.

The hotel is dirty . Bedsheets are filthy and you can feel the bugs crawling under the sheet! Although the location is convenient as gare du nord station is just 10 minutes away. I wouldn't recommend it though. :(

The hotel is very conveniently located super close to Gare du Nord. The people working there are nice but speak very little English. Internet (Wifi) is available but NOT free.The room was good, however the bathroom was a bit small but no mayor problem.

I have stayed in many budget hotels in France, so I know exactly what to expect.I was well aware this hotel wasn't in the best location, although convenient for the eurostar.I was expecting it to be very basic, but I wasn't expecting what I got! The photo's of the hotel are very misleading! The room we had was terrible, the carpets are filthy and stained, everything including the furniture and bed throws is stained and grubby.the sink was badly cracked, and there was cellotape holding together the shower tap!! My family suffered it for two nights as I didn't want to wander round Paris with the children trying to book elsewhere!! As it was hot, we had to open the windows, and the location meant you would get a quieter night camping next to the M6!! When we left we were charged more money than the advertised price in the window!!! I had to resort to buying my own antibacterial wipes fro The supermarket across the road to clean the surfaces, and I made the children put flip flops on when they got out the shower!! If you are in any doubt as to my description, have a quick look on trip adviser at the photo's uploaded by previous customers, these photo's are what you are really getting!! I wouldn't even rate this shocker with one mark, but I had to put one mark to enable the system to go ahead with the review!!

Location is the great and the reason to coose this hotel. Staff is very caring and able to provide you some basic information. It is quiet hotel and you're given the service you've paid for.

Nice hotel, only 2 mins from Gare du Nord station. I've stayed for 3 nights, the room is spacious, being clean everyday and the heater working perfectly. Worth for the money.

Having read some reviews on the easy book website I felt like I was taking a bit of a gamble coming to this hotel. The day we were due to check in I phoned the hotel to check our reservation the staff member who answered humoured my limited French and confirmed my booking for me, other half and three kids. Upon arrival (which was quite late due to problems on the euro star) the check in was easy and quick, we went up to the 3rd floor with all our luggage in the lift and entered our room. The room was clean spacious and had plenty of storage.

The Hotel Grand Magenta is definetly not so grand! Location is good as it's only 5 mins from Gare Du Nord Station. Plenty of eateries nearby, but also plenty of hobos & beggars! Terrible stench of urine on streets in this area with not much cleaning going on to remedy this. Upon arrival we were greeted by a concierge who either didn't speak English or pretended not to- common complaint in Paris, who had little or no useful information. The lift was tiny and could scarcely accommodate 2 people. My family numbered 5 adults and we had a double room with bathroom on the first floor overlooking the noisy major intersection. The rooms were nothing like the advertised photos on the web site! We had only 3 towels for the 5 of us available and had to ask for 2 more, which somehow disappeared the next day?? No free wifi available, only an internet desk in foyer which you had to stand to use and no printer available.The heater in one room leaked water over our daughters' rucksack and damaged her camera which now doesn't work! When we reported this to the concierge at reception his reply was what do you expect me to do about it? in a very rude and arrogant tone! I am now trying to recover cost of replacement of our wrecked camera. As this was my 7th trip to Europe and countless hotels, I have to say that the Grand Hotel Magenta was a very disappointing place to stay and I would definetly not recommend it to anyone. Pros: Fair price, good location close to gare du nord
Cons: Bed and pillows very uncomfortable, button for elevator on the 5th floor didn't work, scary and narrow elevator actually, cables in the bathroom uncovered, old and broken furniture, tv only with french channels (not international), room very small and outdated, dirty shower...

Pros: Location is excellent, close to gare du nord and making access to everthing straightforward. room size was perfect for a family of 5 with adjoining rooms. hotel needs a lick of paint etc but is perfectly adequate for a family stay if like us you just want to see the city sights.
