Hôtel Exelmans Paris  

Me and my best friend were traveling and were expecting to stay in a hostel and Hotel Exelmans was one of the cheaper deals we could find. Therefore our expectations were pretty low and we would've been fine with a hall bathroom - so our own clean bathroom in which the towels were changed each day and didn't require a deposit was an absolute luxury! The place doesn't at all look like the photos with big pink fluffy comforters and pillows but we didn't expect that after reading reviews... Our room was perfectly fine and we were in Paris to see the city so we left early and returned just to sleep. It was just a 5 minute walk from the metro and perfect for us. The bathroom was clean and modern. Although there was mold on the walls, the shower unit was definitely new and very very nice. I would definitely recommend this to travelers who are looking for an easy, cheap place to stay that may not be 5 stars, but who cares - it's a safe place to sleep and hold you over until your day time adventures! The staff were so friendly and helpful and provided us with maps and a little french lesson (consisting of bonjour, pouvez-vous m'aider?, s'il vous plaît, je vous remercie et je ne parle pas français.)

Cons: The web site led us to believe that we could stay in a twin bedroom only to find that we had to share a small double and they wanted to charge us more for twin beds
