"Fantastic Location"

The hotel is in a fantastic location on a little street called Rue Cler. The street has everything you could wish for including shops, restaurants, pharmacy etc. and there's quite a well stocked supermarket right opposite the hotel. If you fancy some fresh fruit and veg there's a lovely green grocers next door. It's a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower and you can walk to all of the other famous attractions within 20-25 mins. There's a train station within a 10 minute walk just before you get to Pont d'Alma and it only costs 1.70 euros to go anywhere (single). The metro is approx. 20-25 mins away in Invalides.The Hotel: When I first saw my room, I was a very disappointed as it was very, very small. However, as soon as I put my stuff away I actually thought it became very cosy. It was clean with plenty of storage (apart from in the bathroom) and if you started to feel a little too enclosed, you could always open the window onto the lovely street below. The decor is very dated but a young man has just bought the hotel and he told us that he was planning to refurbish the hotel completely. It's simple and basic, but quite charming. However, there are a lot of steps to get to the rooms and the stairway is very narrow. There is a lift, but it is tiny and quite claustaphobic. When carrying luggage, it's best to send the luggage up seperately.I didn't have breakfast, but my colleague did and she said it was excellent value for money at 10 euros. Although she didn't feel that she was given any service whilst she was there, due to the training of the new owner. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Pros: Really nice and helpful staff. calm room at my request.
Cons: The hotel needs a total renovation, however that is apparently going to happen now that they have new owners. i look forward to returning after that.

"Loved the location of hotel la serre"

Pros: Loved the location of hotel la serre. very close to eiffel tower and metro station. the street, rue cler, is very quaint with lots of cafes, food stalls and atmosphere. great location and a great price.
Cons: The only negative aspect with the hotel la serre was that we had one person on the staff who was rude to us and when we had an issue with electrical outlets they were never resolved resulting in not have working outlets in the room the whole stay.

"The location can't be beat"

Pros: The location can't be beat. 2 blocks from metro, surrounded by the cafes of rue cler, and so close to the eiffel tower. the ice maker is a wonderful touch and very helpful, as were the 3eur 1.5l bottles of chilled water.
Cons: The safes in the rooms aren't bolted down. a can of wd-40 would be very, very helpful because the doors squeak so loudly. the hotel has an elevator, but it's just barely big enough to fit one person and some luggage or two people without luggage. the shower stalls were very small (but still bigger than the elevator). while most of the staff were very helpful, there were a couple of staff members who couldn't seem to care less if they answered our questions or got us what we needed. the walls are very thin.

Pros: Breakfast was lovely, though it cost e10 extra per morning. the staff were very helpful, all but one spoke english, and very easy to talk to.
Cons: It may have just been my appliances, but even with my converter, i couldn't get anything(small laptop, hair straightener) to work in the outlets. though it may have just been that room.

the address was also a little confusing, but very close to ecole militaire metro station, and after asking a passerby or two, i found it.
