 "Great location, room as expected"
After reading many reviews we weren't quite sure what to expect. Location was ideal 10mins to Eiffel Tower, 2min to metro and many restaurants on street/grocery stores. Room itself was small, thin walls.

 "AMAZING location!"
My friend and I loved staying here for two nights while in Paris. the location is incredible (less than a 10 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower), and the employees were so kind and helpful. Definitely try it out!

"Best location but every sound counted"
The hotel is in between several fresh food markets and great restaurants, some of the best in Paris but if someone coughed on your same floor, you heard it. The rooms are old and outdated, there were also bed bugs. Their cost for breakfast was 10eurps a piece, don't pay this, the restuarants next door offer more for the same price, the hotel doesn't have a kitchen so your only getting a crossant and cereal. If you stay here it is definetly for location. The train station is only a 3 minute walk and it is a safe area good for families.

"Excellent location, older hotel with tiny rooms and no air conditioning.."
We stayed 3 nights at this location. The first day the temperature in Paris was 32 deg C, very hot and humid day. That same night we discovered the hotel had no air conditioning whatsoever... We opened the windows just to find out the local folks in the cafes were loud, then after 2am the garbage trucks started rolling in, so that night was a nightmare. Luckily, the following morning it started raining, and the temperatures dropped back to normal. Rooms in this area are hard to find for less than 120 Euro per night, especially in June and July.. We checked around and there were none available... The hotel is old, the rooms are tiny, the elevator can fit two people, and very tight at that. For it's age, the hotel is very clean, and the staff is very friendly. But if I ever come again, I would get a decent room in a hotel that is not so close to the Eifel tower...the closer you get to it, the more expensive the rooms. Other than that, the hotel is OK if you don't mind the extremely small rooms, and even smaller washroom with shower cabin. So I would rate the hotel 3 out of 5, mainly due to the room size, and the noise from the street ( on the positive side, the windows have been upgraded and when closed there is barely any noise to be heard, however without air conditioning it is impossible to keep them closed). A hotel in a quiet side street is a much better choice! There is free and very fast WiFi at this location. The TV in the room is a small older CRT type, with ALL channels in French. Also, there is a reminder on the wall that says food and drinks are not allowed in the rooms, but not strictly enforced...Overall, this is probably the best you could find in this area of Paris, for that price. Definitely suitable for younger tourists who don't mind the room size and the street noise.

 "Worst hotel ever!"
The hotel is really old and the rooms are tiny and gross. Walls are peeling and there was mould on the ceilings! The pillows are lumpy and the bed is uncomfortable. For the price, I expected a decent average room but this is just horrible. Reception wasn't that helpful either. Will not stay here again.

 "Fantastic Location"
The hotel is in a fantastic location on a little street called Rue Cler. The street has everything you could wish for including shops, restaurants, pharmacy etc. and there's quite a well stocked supermarket right opposite the hotel. If you fancy some fresh fruit and veg there's a lovely green grocers next door. It's a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower and you can walk to all of the other famous attractions within 20-25 mins. There's a train station within a 10 minute walk just before you get to Pont d'Alma and it only costs 1.70 euros to go anywhere (single). The metro is approx. 20-25 mins away in Invalides. The Hotel: When I first saw my room, I was a very disappointed as it was very, very small. However, as soon as I put my stuff away I actually thought it became very cosy. It was clean with plenty of storage (apart from in the bathroom) and if you started to feel a little too enclosed, you could always open the window onto the lovely street below. The decor is very dated but a young man has just bought the hotel and he told us that he was planning to refurbish the hotel completely. It's simple and basic, but quite charming. However, there are a lot of steps to get to the rooms and the stairway is very narrow. There is a lift, but it is tiny and quite claustaphobic. When carrying luggage, it's best to send the luggage up seperately.I didn't have breakfast, but my colleague did and she said it was excellent value for money at 10 euros. Although she didn't feel that she was given any service whilst she was there, due to the training of the new owner. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Pros: Loved the location of hotel la serre. very close to eiffel tower and metro station. the street, rue cler, is very quaint with lots of cafes, food stalls and atmosphere. great location and a great price.
Cons: The only negative aspect with the hotel la serre was that we had one person on the staff who was rude to us and when we had an issue with electrical outlets they were never resolved resulting in not have working outlets in the room the whole stay.
