"We arrived and were welcomed with our keys straight away without being..."
Pros: We arrived and were welcomed with our keys straight away without being asked proof of identity which we found odd but friendly in a way. hotel open all night which was useful as we got back at midnight from montmartre. there were a clear, open bathroom with a large window which was the highlight.
Cons: The room was clean, but the walpaper really dirty in some places, around the suitcase stool but also around the bed area which really put us off. also, the furniture was not as high standard as expected for a 3 star hotel, but the bed was good. no kettle, which for people living in uk, british or not, is a must! there were no stationery, or anything friendly welcoming us, and no tv guide (we are very much used to this in the uk). when i mentioned to a member of the staff at reception about the stained wallpaper, he took note of it, but to my surprise, did not suggest we change room, which i found close to rudeness... (i just thought that in the uk, we would have been suggested this straight away to make our stay a positive one...). breakfast was not tried as judged too expensive for a what we expected a parisian one (croissant & cafe) which we found next door in a brasserie for half the price. moreover, for people with allergies (i have a gluten intolerance) some hotel are not understanding if we bring our own food... so we usually avoid breakfast in hotels.

"The staff were very helpful and the hotel is very close to the gare de lyon..."
Pros: The staff were very helpful and the hotel is very close to the gare de lyon so getting around paris via metro is very easy. there are also a lot of very good priced restaurants in the immediate area. the breakfast was just ok considering it was an additional cost and not included.
Cons: The room i had was quite noisy and the walls and carpet s were stained and in need of a facelift.
