A number of exclusive hotels line Avenue des Champs-Élysées, and prices here are not the cheapest in Paris. Some of the most luxurious choices in the area include Hotel des Champs-Élysées, Hotel Rochester and Hotel Beauchamps, which all offer their own style of quality service and highly maintained facilities. If you want to stay in this popular area but can’t quite afford a four star hotel, perhaps you could go for the 2-star Royal Colisée Hotel, which is located on Rue de Colisée, just off Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Conversely, the ultimate experience lies in the five star hotels such as Paris Marriott Hotel Champs-Élysées, Hotel Lancaster and Hospes Lancaster (75008) Hotel, which offer some of the finest accommodation that Paris has to offer.

There are some amazing hotels and other establishments in this area of Paris, as the Avenue des Champs- Élysées is quite possibly the most famous avenue in the world. The avenue was created by Louis XIV's gardener, Andre Le Notre, in 1667, as an improvement of the view from the Tuileries gardens. Stretching from Place de la Concorde in the east to Place Charles de Gaulle in the west, Avenue des Champs-Élysées is flanked by numerous attractions in their own right, including the Grand Palais and Petit Palais at its eastern end. The stature of this thoroughfare is the site of many celebrations and events. It is a popular location for New Year’s Eve parties, military parades on 14th July, and marks the culmination of the world famous Tour de France.

It was not until the 18th century though that Avenue des Champs-Elysees was lengthened considerably to run from Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe. The avenue now has a length of two kilometres and a good portion of this is bordered by trees. Closer to its western culmination, luxury shops, cafes, cinemas and theatres can be found each side of the avenue. The street is also a prime location for exclusive hotels. This kind of development really took off after 1900, when metro line 1 finally reached to Etoile, traversing the city from east to west.
