My twenty-something son and I stayed at the Hotel Crayon and had a wonderful time. First the location could not be any better. We are joggers and walkers, and the hotel is a nice run to both the Tulierries and the Luxembourg gardens. The Louvre is practically outside your door, and we walked to almost every arrondissement, If you are not a walker, the Metro is very close, as is the RER B train from the airport. There is a wonderful boulangerie around the block which has both pastry, bread, sandwiches, and a great vegetarian quiche. The corner cafe also was a good spot for a quick meal. Also, on Sunday there is a lovely food market near Les Halles. The hotel itself was a surprize. We expected the rooms to be small (after all this is Paris) but it was not as small as I expected and we never felt cramped. We had twin beds that although narrower than in the states, were comfortable. There was a wardrobe, night tables, a desk with a chair, a stool, and a small comfortable chair. Some of the furniture comes from the flea, and the wall art consists of nice framed photos from an earlier Paris, much more interesting than your customary hotel decor. We were on the top floor facing the street, so we had a view, and also a beamed ceiling. Our walls were orange, with a postal blue chair rail and lighter blue below. Also had a drawing above the bed. Very cheery. Also the bathroom had a bathtub which made me really happy. There was a hand shower, which we were fine with, some might object to the lack of a place to hang the shower on the wall. And although there were ample towels, like European hotels of the past, no washcloths.

"Looks very well maintained"
Pros: Looks very well maintained. staff very friendly. good security. very nice tv. surprising good breakfast. bed was very comfortable. my room was a single but the bed was almost big enough for two people.
Cons: The room was very small and the bathroom was very small, however the shower was normal size. the toilet was hard to use without the sink getting in the way. i would not recommend this hotel if you are mobility impaired or a large person who needs a lot of room.
