There are many interesting things to do in Paris and among them are visiting museums that display different artefacts, which had big roles in the history of the city. One of these is the Musee d'Orsay. The history of this museum started with the building of the Gare d'Orsay in 1900 by the Victor Laloux for the World Fair. This was the first railway station that catered to electric trains in Paris.

This station was threatened to be demolished in the 1970s. However, this did not happen due to the protestations of the Parisians. This act of saving the station, resulted in it becoming a listed building. It was converted into a museum in the year 1979 and this deed was entrusted to the able hands of the Milanese architect, Gae Aulenti. Now, the museum houses a collection of Impressionist works of art. It also has art noveau furniture that is worth your time. If viewing the exhibitions of the museum is part of the things to do in Paris that you are set out to accomplish, all you have do is pay seven euros to gain entry to one of the most esteemed art museums in the world.
