Pros: Everyone was polite. the room was clean and large.
Cons: Before i even checked in, i was called by the hotel to tell me they'd made an error in booking and did not have my room after all, but had another "15 minutes' walk away" from the hotel i booked. but i had no idea where that was, if the neighborhood was good, etc., and did not want to do that. they suggested i check on line, but i was at a museum and did not have internet access. finally, she came up with a room at the hotel anyway. i know these things can happen, but it was quite disconcerting. the one thing above all that you want in a hotel is reliability. i did not get that at this hotel. additionally, my fault for not checking better, but i thought i had ... this hotel is really not in opera. it just isn't. and the neighborhood is dicey at best. not nice. i did not feel safe walking alone at night there as i do in other areas of the city. as a new york city person, i can handle a lot, urban-living wise, but this was just drab and a lot of people "hanging around" like they were waiting for something, and not a good thing if you know what i'm saying. i would never stay in this area again and i think it's wrong to say this area is in the opera region of paris. the breakfast area was dingy. i was not inclined to pay the 9 euro to eat that simmple buffet and was glad to eat in a cafe outside the hotel instead. i had a much better breakfast as a result. i will not recommend this hotel to anyone.
