 "Modern Times."
Last time I stayed at the Hotel Terrass was some fifteen years back. It was a leisure break, and I remember it as being one of the most pleasant stays I have ever experienced in any Paris Hotel.Though the business reasons for being there this time clearly influenced the impressions retained, there's no doubt that the same old-world charm has been greatly reduced. Menus have also been modernised to their detriment. Also, two of the younger reception staff (one male, one female) were either unhelpful or gloomy - although the senior members were still endowed with the same Gallic savoir-faire, and the new reception recruit, of African ancestry, proved to be thorughly adorable. On the occasion of the former visit, the room appointed was decorated with exquisite boiserie, and the chintz fabrics authentic and timeless. The latest room - although larger - came with no bath, only a shower; the walls were coloured an overpowering yellow, and the hall corridors principally black - like some chain hotel trying to be chic and modern. The ceiling lighting in the room was overdone, and unadjustable, and the T.V. provided no in-house entertainment, other than an average collection of regular satellite channels, with little to offer to English-speaking nationals. No real reason to complain, except that the Hotel is rated with four stars - hence the overnight price. So not hugely impressive in terms of value, nowadays. The Hotels' two major features are it's location, by virtue of its proximity to where Paris night-life reigns supreme, and the upper floor terrace that gives it its name - which is not in use other than in the summer months, unfortunately. For these two reasons - coupled with the helpfulness of the maturer members of the reception staff - I would definitely stay again, but I would ensure that I had the time to stock in advance with personal nibbles, and not reply on room-service for supplies. The breakfast-room/restaurant was pleasant enough, with big windows giving onto the street providing it with the atmosphere of a modernised Paris brasserie, and likewise the restaurant staff. But a winter breakfast menu lacking porridge served to epitomise the overall current drawback failures of what was once a delightful establishment.

 "Room well-designed, slightly small"
Pros: Room well-designed, slightly small. tv very good quality. main advantage intelligent design of bathroom. a joy to use.
Cons: Room was too hot. because i read the reviews i chose a room at the back, sacrificing the view. it was the right decision: i could open the window and solve the problem. am surprised air-con not installed. must be very difficult in summer.
for the english: 2 teabags a day is not enough!
