Bercy is a former commune that was annexed into the city of Paris in the 1860's. Located on the east side of Paris, Bercy is the home of the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy and also the Ministry of Finances. The ministry building itself is a modern structure, constructed in the 1980's. Beyond its governmental purpose, the structure is famous for its design. It includes immediate access to the river Seine for VIP travelers who must get to or from this building in a hurry. Home to such sports as tennis, gymnastics, boxing and more, it also plays host to major concerts. The venue, in fact, has been used by such notable musicians as The Rolling Stones, The Who, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen.Thanks to Bercy having its own metro station, travel from this portion of the city is quite easy. Other attractions visitors in the Bercy area can take in include Bercy Park and the Cour Saint-Emilion, which is a former warehouse area that has been turned into a shopping and entertainment destination.
