The Faubourg du Roule is a neighborhood in Paris’ 8th administrative district. It is within this district that visitors to the City of Lights will find such major attractions as the Arc de Triomphe, the Obelisk and the Champs-Elysees. Within the neighborhood proper, visitors can explore such landmarks as the Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky, which is a Russian Orthodox church consecrated in 1861. The towering structure was the first of its kind for the Russian Orthodox church in France. The 79.7 hectare neighborhood is also home to a number of other attractions, including a portion of the Wall of the General Farmers, which was built in the 1780's to regulate the entry of goods into the city.
