As one of the twenty arrondissments, or districts in France’s capital city, the Gare de Lyon Paris is an area of the city that is more residential than some of the other districts. It is one of the largest of the twenty arrondissements, and is situated on the Right Bank of the River Seine. There is much to see and do here, and perhaps the largest area to cover would be the Bois de Vincennes. The 2,460 acres includes a lovely lake and the option to rent rowboats. There are small islands in the lake that are easily reached by a footbridge. Many types of birds will please nature lovers, those who appreciate a nice walk will enjoy the many footpaths, and there is a gorgeous Buddhist temple here as well.
Other points of interest in the 12th district that most visitors make a great effort to see while they are in Paris include the lovely garden called Jardin Yitzhak Raby. It is inside of the Bercy Village, where you can experience what it would be like to shop in a French country market. The Opera Bastille, Palais de la Porte Doree, and the Promenade Plantee are all quite interesting.
