Situated on the Right Bank of the River Seine, the Bastille Paris has a larger and denser population than any arrondisement in Paris, or any other European city. There is much to see and do in this district. You can visit either of the lovely squares, known as Place de la Republique and Place de la Bastille. The Boulevard Richard-Lenior is a gracious tree-lined boulevard known for its art market that takes place each week, and a huge fruit and vegetable market that is held every other week. Along with the rue du Faubourg St Antoine, you can find good restaurants and cafes here, along with many shopping boutiques. The nightlife in this area is quite good.
You will definitely want to check out the Oberkampf district in the northern section of the 11th Arrondisement if you are interested in experiencing more of the French nightlife. The fortress and prison known as the Bastille is located on Rue Saint-Antione. The Musee du Fumeur, Musee Edith Piaf, the Eglise Saint-Ambroise, the Cirque d’hiver, and the ESCP-EAP are other points of interest that visitors will have a good time exploring.
