Porte Dauphine is one of many metro stations located in Paris designed to make transit within the city easier for residents and visitors alike. This station is the western terminus of Line 2 of the metro system. It was officially opened in December 1900 with connections to Charles de Gaulle – Etoile. The line runs around Paris’ northern edge through Montmarte to the eastern terminus at Place de la Nation.

Porte Dauphine’s aedicule, or entrance, was designed by architect Hector Guimard. The aedicule itself is one of two left created by this art nouveau master. This district is home to such attractions as the Robert Schuman monument, the Maison de Balzac and the Musee Baccarat.
