Aire-sur-la-Lys is a small commune located in France. Both the Laquette and Lys rivers are near to Aire sur la Lys. In spite of the small size of Aire sur la Lys, there are many interesting sites to be seen here. The Collegiate Church of Saint-Pierre is one of the town's most important monuments. Built in 1492 in a Romanesque style, this church has been the town's church since 1802.
Of particular interest, besides the dimensions, is the tower on this church. Le Bailliage is a building built around 1600 in a Flemish Renaissance style to be used as a guard room for the city's military. Since then it's been used as a police department, courthouse, and Town Hall. This building is also a historical monument worth seeing. The old Lys brewery can still be seen along with the malting workshop. The interesting roofs and facades make this building worth seeing. For a great meal, go to Sarl Le Restaurant. For a small commune, you'll be amazed at all there is to do and see in Aire-sur-la-Lyshas.
