The Rhone Valley is a wine growing and producing region. This is the source of Beaujolais wine. In the Rhone region, you can sample the product at any number of towns and cities. This includes Lyon. However, wine is but one of Lyon attractions. People enjoy its cobbled streets and the Chemin du Rosaire. You can view the Renaissance mansions on Rue Juiverie or visit any of the many wonderful museums. Lyon culture shines through at the two museums in the 15th century Hôtel Gadagne: The Museum of history of Lyon and the Maritime Museum. Lyon cultural attractions also include the Metal Tower of 1893 and the Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourviere. The Basilica, rendered in mock Byzantine style, features turrets and crenelations, a feast of marble and stone. As declarations of Lyon history, you can find nothing better than the Roman Theater with its two Roman amphitheaters on Fourvière Hill. The Roman theater and the Odeon are over 2,000 years old. Lyon is also home to the 15th century Grand Theater. This is France’s oldest theater.
