Lyon is one of the best tourist destinations in France. This is probably because the sights of Lyon are among the greatest in the country. One of these is the Esplanade de Fourviere.

The esplanade, which is situated on the left side of the Basilica de Fourviere, offers one of the best views of Lyon. You will be provided the view of the Terreaux district and the Croix-Rousse on your left and the place Bellecour on your right. You will also see the roof of the Saint Jean right down the hill. There are signs that will point you to the right direction when it comes to the panoramic sights of Lyon that you want to see. If you are not one of those who are afraid of getting a bit sweaty, then you can climb the 200 steps up to the observatory that is on the top of the basilica. This way, you will be able to get a bird's eye view of the city of Lyon.
