Albert is a commune of the Somme department in northern France, with a population of over 10,000. Located in the middle between Bapaume and Amiens, this is a great place to have a nice family vacation or weekend getaway. The Albert Church is an important monument in this town. It had a tall tower that was destroyed by German bombing, leaving only the statue of Madonna hanging. There was myths surrounding this statue that when she fell, the war would end.
You won't want to miss the Circuit de Souvenir, for some interesting sites of battles and cemeteries of the war. Another interesting site is the Musée des Abris, a museum that has reenactments of life in the Somme in the 1916s. You'll love the mannequins doing the performing. For restaurants, Albert has the Bar des routiers, Bar Le Kingston, Le Narval and Le Highlander to name just a few.
