      Val-de-Marne is a section of France along the Marne River. It makes up one part of the Inner Ring surrounding the city of Paris. As such, it is a member of the region called the le de France. The river and proximity to many parks and the Vicennes woods, make possible any number of outdoor sports and events. Val-de-Marne activities include boat cruises and long promenades alongside the river. At Nogent-sur-Marne, you can stroll alongside the rivers shoreline to the port. If you picnic in the Vicennes woods, you are close enough to visit Vicennes 13th century Castle with its nine towers and old walls. This is Vicennes major attraction. In Haÿtes-Roses, the parks are where travelers come to visit. Haÿtes-Roses attraction is its rose garden. In Saint-Maurice, one man is a celebrated son. This is the painter Delacroix. The only structural attraction, however, is the former insane Asylum, now the psychiatric hospital.
