Vaucluse Hotels and Accommodation
Most famous place to visit in the Vaucluse region deseves some attention. Gordes sits atop a hill, a true hillside village. This town in Vaucluse, Provence, France, is popular with artists. This began in 1938 and the fascination does not seem to wane. The popular Gordes attractions include the Château de Gordes. It is a 16th century structure sitting on the site of a 12th century fortress. Within the building, you can find a 16th century fireplace on the first floor of the Great Hall. It is an ornate construction of flowers, shells and pilasters. You enter through a Renaissance doorway. The man responsible for restoring this structure is Victor Vasarely, an artist of the 20th century. Two other local attractions include the Church of St, Firmin and the Caves du Palais St. Firmin. Here, you can see an old olive press of stone.
There are other sights and sites to explore near Gordes. Just outside Gordes is the Village des Bories. Here, you can see 20 restored ancient dry limestone slab dwellings. These bories have a history stretching back to 2,000 BC. EasyToBook.com has an extended list of hotels, cheap hotels as wel as luxurious ones, offered with discount.
