Ménerbes Hotels and Accommodation
Attractive as much for the views that it offers as for the village itself, Ménerbes, in the Provençal department of Vaucluse, is a beautiful medieval village which spreads along a hilltop. The church sits on the east end of the ridge, the ancient chateau on the west end, and the town hall, with its 18th century wrought iron belfry, in between. Although it has always attracted artists (Nicolas de Stael lived here, and Picasso stopped here with Dora Maar), it is perhaps better known as the former home of Peter Mayle, a British expatriate who wrote his ‘Year in Provence’ books whilst living in the village. One of his books, A Good Year, was made into a movie starring Russell Crowe and filmed in the surrounding area. Booking your vacation in this now-famous village couldn’t be easier than through EasyToBook.com. With a range of budget hotels on offer, you will be free to explore the delightful narrow alleys, carefully restored medieval houses, churches and chapels of the upper part of the village, as well as the more lively shopping area below.
Within easy driving distance of your hotel, you will find a fascinating corkscrew museum just a few kilometers away, as well as the ancient Abbey of St Hilaire. There is also a mushroom ‘farm’ just outside the village, which uses caves deep in the side of the solid-rock hillside.
