What you need to know before traveling to Vosges

The region of Vosges is one for brisk outdoor sports and activities. Vosges activities include outdoor promenades around the various lakes or treks through the forests and across the hills. You can take boat trips from Gérardmer on its lake or scenic drives in the region. Go out to the island location of Vosges cultural history, the Vosges Museum of Classical and Contemporary Art. Drive or bike the Routes des Crêtes through the scenic countryside. You can also relax and get into shape at any of the four spa or health towns: Bains-les-Bains, Vittel, Plombière and Contrexéville.

Contrexéville with its Place du Fontaines is a lively spa town. Contrexéville sports activities are golf, tennis and swimming. There is even a Sports Festival. Other Contrexéville cultural events include the Folk Festival and Jazz music. These take place within the town or on the site of the sap, itself. The spa structure is itself a historic structure, a neo-Byzantine building. Other Contrexéville historic attractions are the Chapelle Orthodox and the Church St. Epvre with its 12th century bell tower and excellent sculptures.
